From Refugee to Investor: Why I’m Betting on One Stock to Build Wealth

I wasn’t born into wealth.
I wasn’t raised in a culture that taught stock market investing.
And when I came to America as a teenager, I didn’t even speak English.
But today, I’m betting my retirement — publicly — on one stock: MicroStrategy ($MSTR).
Not because it’s trendy.
Not because I’m trying to go viral.
But because I know what it feels like to start with nothing — and still choose to build something anyway.
My journey: From Congo, Through Rwanda, to America
I was born in Democratic Republic of Congo and grew up in Rwanda, shaped by survival, culture, and the silent weight of war and uncertainty.
As a kid, I didn’t think about money.
I thought about safety. Food. Stability.
We moved, we adapted, we endured.
When I arrived in America as a teenager, it was like landing on another planet.
I didn’t speak English
I didn’t understand the system
I had no map, no guide, no money
But I had something else: hunger.
Not just the hunger for food — I’d felt that too.
But the hunger for freedom, for dignity, for a future I could build with my own hands.
And now, I’m doing exactly that — one share at a time.
Why I’m Betting My Future on Just One Stock
Most people diversify.
They follow conventional wisdom: “Don’t put all your eggs in one basket.”
And for many, that works.
But I’ve never had the luxury of playing it safe.
I didn’t come to America with a safety net.
I didn’t start with a retirement plan.
I didn’t have wealthy parents, connections, or credentials.
All I had — and still have — is conviction.
So instead of splitting my attention across 30 different assets, I chose one stock I believe in with my whole chest: MicroStrategy.
Why MicroStrategy?
Because it’s not just a company — it’s a Bitcoin vault wrapped in equity.
Here’s what made me lock in:
MicroStrategy holds 568,840 BTC as of now — and continues buying
The company is led by Michael Saylor, who thinks in decades, not quarters
It gives me Bitcoin upside, without needing to manage wallets or hardware
It’s a bet on digital property — the kind that can’t be seized, inflated, or printed
Most people think in weeks.
I’m thinking in generations.
This isn’t just an investment.
It’s my path to freedom.
How I’m Executing This Strategy
I invest $50 every weekday the market is open.
No skipping. No timing. No emotional trading.
That’s $250 a week. About $1,000 a month.
Over 20 years, that’s $260,000 invested — before compounding.
I post weekly updates on BakoInvest.com showing:
My total share count
My average cost

Real thoughts — not just the polished ones
I don’t hide the red days. I don’t brag on green ones.
I just show up. Because that’s what wealth demands.
What If You’re Behind Like I Was?
If you’re:
40+, with no savings
Working a job you don’t love
Wondering if it’s too late to start
Let me tell you:
It’s not too late.
You don’t need to be born into wealth.
You don’t need to be perfect.
You don’t even need to be first.
You just need to be committed.
And if someone like me — a refugee, a bus driver, a guy who didn’t speak English 16years ago — can start stacking shares publicly…
You can too. And probably do it better than me.
Why This Is Bigger Than Money
I’m not doing this just to retire rich.
I’m doing this to rewrite the story I grew up with — and show my kids that we don’t have to stay poor just because we were born that way.
I want my family — here and back home — to know that there’s a way forward.
And I want my readers to know that this blog, this brand, this movement… it’s not built on theory.
It’s built on truth. Sweat. Conviction.
Start Where You Are — Here’s How I Did
I didn’t know where to start either.
So I kept it simple.
Here are the exact platforms I use to build my MSTR portfolio every day:

What I’m Building — Publicly and Permanently
I’m building:
A 20-year investment case study
A blog that documents every step
A digital portfolio of ideas, content, and conviction
And eventually, a pathway for others to follow — especially those who’ve been left out or overlooked
This isn’t a sprint.
This is a legacy.

Why I’m Sharing All of This
Because when you grow up without hope, without guidance, and without money…
You start to believe that wealth is for other people.
I believed that for a long time.
But it’s not true.
Wealth is for the person who shows up.
Every day. Quietly. Without applause.
With $50 and a vision that never fades.
So I’m writing this not to impress anyone — but to remind someone out there:
You don’t have to be born into this. You can build into it. One share at a time.

Final Word
You don’t need a perfect life.
You don’t need to start early.
You don’t need to impress anyone.
You just need a reason, a strategy, and the guts to keep going when nobody’s watching.
I’m not here because I had the perfect setup.
I’m here because I refused to stay stuck.
From refugee… to investor.
From silence… to strategy.
From survival… to stacking shares.
And if I can do it — you can too.
And honestly? You’ll probably do it better than me.
